Job Requirements

The Senior Accountant reports to the Plant Controller managing the 3 WNY manufacturing facilities.

  • Compliance leader for 3 WNY manufacturing facilities
  • Work with corporate headquarters and external auditors responding to audit requests and supplying support
  • Coordinate annual physical inventory; coordinate and reconcile monthly cycle counts. Prepare system entries as needed.
  • Compile and summarize quarterly obsolescence detail supporting accrual. Distribute for review and action to operations team.
  • Leads closing process
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and monthly reporting as needed for 3 sites. Journals include but not limited to PPV reconciliation, Reintegration Calculation, freight distribution and accrual. Reports include but not limited to inventory reconciliation and inventory accuracy reporting by warehouse.
  • Assist Plant Controller with external reporting (knowledge of GAAP), proper accounting treatment to both routine and unusual items, timely closing of our books of accounts, and submission of timely and accurate financial data for management to use to manage the business month.
  • Assist Plant Controller with preparation of standards costs at year end.
  • Prepare month-end billings and reports for Technical and Process Engineering trials along with marketing samples that are billable to CHQ.
  • Analyze balance sheet during monthly close and reconcile discrepancies
  • Submit annual/quarterly ECIDA reports
  • Complete monthly and annual census reports for 3 facilities as required
  • Prepare Sanborn Business Plan, assist Plant controller in preparing Tonawanda Business Plan.
  • Provide leadership and direction as required.
  • Must be a self-starter, energetic, motivated contributor.
  • Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity and trustworthiness. a must.
  • Backup duties - Timely audit of daily production reports for completeness and accuracy; prepare necessary adjustments and journal entries as required to ensure accurate production reporting. Balance cost report to trial balance monthly.
  • Bachelor s degree required
  • At least 5 years relevant finance experience
  • Experience within a complex industrial company
  • Experience with ERP and financial systems such as AS400 and SAP
  • Analytical capability to explain variances to the business
