The Department of Parks,Recreation and Tourism has 6 aquatic facilities to include: 2 indoor pools, 4 community pools and 2 waterparks. The Ranger Division provides support to SplashDown Water Park, Veterans Community Park and Locust Shade Park through its Seasonal Ranger Aide program. The selected Ranger Aide Applicant(s) will be assigned to one of these three facilities in order to provide support to the park's staff, patrons, and Park Rangers. Parks and Recreation facilities are a 7 day a week operation which requires a flexible work schedule to include: early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Safety and Security related experience preferred. Must be at least 19 years old.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older. Fingerprinting will be required.

SALARY: $18.94/hr.

This class is the first level of the Park Ranger Job Family. Incumbents enforce park rules and regulations by patrolling parks and facilities, conducting traffic control, and keeping records of daily park activities.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is an entry-level position that is responsible for enforcing established park rules and regulations. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval.

1.Enforces park rules by conducting food and/or vehicle patrols; and deter current and future criminal activity.

2.Directs traffic control processes; ensure access to emergency vehicles and/or personnel; and maintain order in all applicable designated parking areas.

3.Provides continuous customer service; direct visitors to requested locations; and perform safety inspections throughout the facility.

4.Resolves ongoing conflicts in a direct and professional manner.

5.Maintains required logs and prepares related reports.

6.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

High school diploma or G.E.D.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Incumbents in this position typically require:

Valid driver's license.
