We are seeking a Vice President, Pricing Actuary for our New York City office to support our Global Risk Solutions team. Global Risk Solutions offers comprehensive multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals and includes our Sompo Mexico and Global Weather businesses. Servicing small, middle market and large accounts, we work through a network of retail brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on white glove service. The VP, Pricing Actuary will be dedicated to pricing renewal and new business policies for the Global Risk Solutions lines of business (Auto, Environmental, General Liability, Products, Property, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella) in select industry verticals. The Pricing Actuary will develop and use complex financial models in order to consistently deliver profitable results and sustain the long-term strategic direction of the division. This role reports into the EVP, Chief Pricing Actuary and FP&A Leader for the Global Risk Solutions business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Enhances, reviews, and monitors pricing models used throughout the group to ensure they reflect the highest standards and provides consistent indications across all lines of business. Works integrally with underwriting team on deals and participates in meetings with brokers and clients. Prices structured programs and captives, and must review risk transfer as necessary. Drives pricing decisions based on advanced risk pricing tools and legal/macro trend analyses. Drives pricing of new products and coverages. Works closely with Catastrophe Modelling team to price concentration accounts. Conducts ongoing pricing studies that monitor the profitability of Global Risk Solutions products (Auto, Environmental, General Liability, Products, Property, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella). The individual will have ownership and accountability for the gross/net profitability of these lines of business for their dedicated industry verticals. Works closely with Global Risk Solutions leadership team to maximize profitability, to provide insights for business planning and to make recommendations on reinsurance purchasing strategy; Quarterly and/or monthly tracking/reporting on key actuarial metrics across all lines of business (Rate change, rate change trends, loss trends, etc.) Handles numerous data and report requests relating to regulatory, rating agency and financial reporting needs. Liaises with Underwriting, Claims & Loss Control departments and the Chief Pricing Actuary to ensure that pricing analysis reflects all relevant and applicable information. Presents results of pricing analysis to underwriting and reserving teams and utilizes these meetings as a platform to gain more information on the various business units. Interacts with corporate reserve actuaries and provides justification for loss selection, pricing selection and long-term profitability. Leads or co-leads projects to refine key assumptions utilized in the calculation of the IBNR reserves. Actively participates in monthly meetings with Global Risk Solutions leadership and assists with the production of the materials required for these meetings. Communicates results, analysis, and recommendations in a manner that is understandable and most importantly, allows management to make operational changes where necessary. Assists with the production of actuarial reserve reports that largely comply with actuarial standards of practice. Provides data and information to third party actuaries and auditors and works with lead pricing and reserving actuaries to respond to questions related to the information provided. Provides subject matter and functional expertise to internal/external stakeholders for his/her assigned area of responsibility.
