Senior Cost Accountant
Our client in the Omaha, NE area is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant for a long term contract role. The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for finance processes in the company ranging from accounting, financial planning and analysis, management reporting and financial systems.
Responsibilities of Senior Cost Accountant:
-Develop process costing for product line
-Develop, maintain and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet items
-Maintain cost rolls/updates.
-Prepare actual vs. plan (budget) analysis, as well as financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense information for various customers as needed for decision making support.
-Analyze actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
-Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in the cloud ERP system.
-Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
-Lead and manage the quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process.
-Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs
-Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls
-Develop Inventory and COGS KPIs
-Perform month-end close activities related to Cost Accounting.
-Provide training to business partners while working closely with them to ensure consistency in the application of policies and practices
-Prepare estimates of the new and proposed product or service costs
-Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs
-Manage the Cost Accounting aspects of the cycle count and annual physical count for inventory
-Set up new raw material, packaging, WIP, and FG items; create and maintain production BOMs.
-Ad hoc projects and other activities
Skills/Qualifications of Senior Cost Accountant:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
-5+ years’ experience as a Cost Accountant
-Detailed knowledge of US GAAP principles
-Large ERP experience is a huge plus
-Manufacturing industry is required
-Experience working with engineering and manufacturing on development and analysis of cost standards
-Certifications including CFA, CPA or CMA is preferred.
-Strong problem solving and analytical skills
-Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
-Organized and detailed oriented
-Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
-Expert in QuickBooks Cloud Inventory Version
