Our client is a mission driven lender that supports the development of low-income underserved communities nationwide. They are seeking an Origination Loan Officer to strengthen its Loan Origination Group. The Loan Officer is responsible for representing the company in its lending activities and originating new loan transactions.

• Contribute to loan production goals by identifying lending opportunities and originating new loans upon referral from the business development team
• Structure loan transactions in compliance with internal credit and program requirements under the supervision of the manager
• Prepare and negotiate loan proposals with borrowers and partners (business term sheets and commitment letters) under the supervision of the manager
• Manage the loan approval process from deal screening to loan approval
• Work closely with all lending staff to assure excellent customer service
• Work with partners on loan participations and program loans
• Participate in strategic planning and innovation process

Job Requirements:
• 2+ years of underwriting or loan origination experience, ideally with another CDFI (Community Development Financial Institutions)
• Culture fit is key: must have a mission driven passion
• Strong with underwriting skills (or loan origination skills) and understanding of complex loans
• Must have strong writing and communication skills: will be writing credit memos, presenting to the credit committee and conduct due diligence research
• Plus: specialized in the health care or affordable housing sector
• Another possible profile is someone from a bank, but must be from the community development side of the bank
