Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to help establish and manage our growing accounting function. As the first hire dedicated to accounting, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for assisting in all areas of the accounting function and for developing and implementing best practices within the accounting and financial reporting processes. This includes, but is not limited to, managing day-to-day accounting operations, establishing accounting policies and procedures and assisting with implementing new systems that will drive automation and efficiency within the accounting function and enable our accounting team to scale with the business.

Primary RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hands-on management of daily accounting operations including general accounting and reporting, accounts payable, travel and expense reimbursement, payroll processing, finance systems management, fixed asset, and inventory accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries and manage general journal processing from various sub-ledgers
  • Own monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close preparing account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries for various revenue accounts, inventory, cost of goods sold, fixed assets, accounts payable and other operating expenses
  • Prepares daily reconciliations of various bank and credit card accounts and reconcile prepaid accounts, accrued expenses and other critical accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements and analysis reporting materials for internal and external reporting needs
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls
  • Assist with technical accounting research, documentation of findings and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Continuously review processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities and streamline various processes
  • Collaborate with various business functions (Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Technology and Finance) on various initiatives related to business and financial performance


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience with Big 4 accounting firm and / or a private company or startup
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and lead a growing team
  • Highly organized, detail oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, controls and compliance
  • Experience with various accounting and finance technologies (NetSuite, Zuora, etc.)
