Assists Senior Statutory Accountant with accounting for investment portfolios on both a GAAP basis and a statutory basis. Prepares, on a quarterly and annual basis, the statutory filings for multiple companies. Prepares and assists in completing all required statutory related and investment schedules for various audits

*Prepare monthly GAAP investment entries for all applicable companies. Prepare a monthly reconciliation for investment statements on a statutory basis. Investigate and correct any material differences.
*Prepare investment, equity, and tax reconciliations on a monthly basis. Also prepare reconciliations for investments in affiliated companies.
*Prepare and post statutory related entries in relation to interest, amortization, unrealized and realized
Quarterly & Annual Functions
*Prepare the statutory filings on a quarterly and annual basis for submission to the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance for all applicable companies.
*Responsible for all supplemental filings (Audited Financials, Medical Loss Ratio Analysis, etc.) for multiple companies.
*Responsible for maintaining work papers and analyzing Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Equity and Cash Flow to identify needed SSAP entries. Analyze, research, and resolve discrepancies.
*Assist the Sr. Statutory Accountant in preparing PBC requests for external tax consultant on a quarterly basis.
*Assist the Sr. Statutory Accountant in preparing PBC requests for the year-end federal tax return.
*Assist the Sr. Statutory Accountant in preparing and providing necessary documentation for external audit team.
*Responsible for coordinating and managing the timely submissions for reporting requirements related to statutory filings for other applicable regulatory agencies.
*Oversee requesting, organizing, compiling and tracking information from sources throughout the company required for annual and quarterly reporting.
*Responds to inquiries from the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance regarding financial results and outcomes.
*Acts as a contact for the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance audits over the financial performance of the various companies.
*Assists in the implementation and monitoring of the NAIC Model Audit Rule.
*Requires an ability to perform technical accounting research on both a GAAP and a statutory accounting basis.
*Directly communicates with department managers in order to complete necessary statutory reporting.
*Assists with training and cross training of new and existing accountants.
*Performs other functions as required. Qualifications

Other information:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or other equivalent four-year degree. Two to four years of relevant experience required, preferably in health insurance accounting. CPA desirable; Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures; Knowledge of statutory accounting principles preferred; Understanding of investment accounting, with emphasis on amortization of debt securities; Extensive use of computerized financial accounting applications (Lawson), and personal computer applications (e.g. Excel, Word, and Access). SharePoint experience is a plus.
