We offer a wide range of financial solutions, including investing, banking, advice and education, and retirement services.POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for providing management and expertise within TIAA's Internal Audit division. Plans and conducts complex internal audits under the general direction of the Audit Executive/Director and in compliance with audit standards, schedules and regulatory expectations. Works on problems of diverse scope involving assessment of risk, interpreting audit results and developing recommendations for remediation. Serves as SME regarding the evaluation of the adequacy of the company's internal control structure and effectiveness, effectively communicating complicated risk and control considerations to management, peers, external auditors, subordinates and others. Makes decisions on complex technical issues dealing with risk assessment, regulatory compliance and controls issues having moderate to high impact to the organization.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:* Participates in defining audit service standards for the organization.* Establishes the audit team and then provides guidance to subordinates and/or peers in the conduct of an audit; monitors progress and quality against stated audit objectives and Division requirements.* Participates in identification of possible policy and procedural changes within an area or operation.* Establishes or recommends standards and long-term goals for the area managed, as well as methods to improve the operational efficiency of existing processes.* Develops strong written deliverables, including audit reports and audit committee summaries.* Works with business management to track and monitor resolution of audit issues, providing recommendations on risk and control strategies.* Works on problems of diverse scope using the organization's risk based internal auditing methodology.* Manages audit project teams and engagements through the full lifecycle.* Conducts reviews of audit reports completed by less experienced team members and approves or makes adjustments for final reporting. Has accountability for delivering audit results within the agreed upon annual audit plan.* Demonstrates good judgment in evaluating the results of audits and in developing and presenting remediation solutions where control weaknesses have been identified.* Leads audit teams in the coordination of the activities within the function with responsibility for results.* Recommends and implements changes to methods of performing work.* Manages multiple projects at the same time, with responsibility for establishing audit teams of associates, staff and seniors.* Interacts regularly with the Audit Leadership team and senior leaders within the organization, with responsibility for the upward management of required activities in supporting audit engagements.* Provides recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, salary, termination etc., for subordinate team members.* Provides direct feedback and coaching to project resources as well as input into performance appraisals and development plans during the annual and interim performance evaluations process.* Organizes, orchestrates, and monitors moderately complex sets of activities, people and resources over extended periods of time.* Actively engages in and may lead firm level initiatives, with a focus on people related matters, such as Employee Resource Groups (ERG), leadership training and mentoring programs.* Disseminate and share best practices with business leaders, executive and senior management, and corporate risk and control functions, adding value to the business and enabling the principles of risk management and control to be embedded in the culture and management practices. Serves as SME for multiple TIAA business areas or full lines of business.* Requires strong knowledge of internal audit leading practices; risk management; and regulatory guidance and expectations (FRBB, OCC, SEC, State Insurance).* Requires strong knowledge of the Institute of Internal Auditor's (IIA) International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) to which the Internal Audit Division's methodology is aligned.* Requires strong knowledge of financial services products, services and regulations.QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED:* Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or other business related field is required.* Minimum 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or diversified financial services, including experience in an internal audit management role or a related field.* Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Securities licenses may be carried by the broker-dealer if the auditor is involved in auditing broker dealer activities.PREFERRED:* MBA or graduate degree is preferred.* Experience in evaluating or conducting actuarial, capital markets, statutory or investment accounting controls is also preferred.* Experience in a regulated financial services environment, requiring direct interactions with regulators such as the Federal Reserve, OCC, SEC, FINRA, or state Insurance Departments, is also preferred.Equal Employment Opportunity is not just the law, it's our commitment.
