Description of Work Quality Auditor Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Quality Auditor. This individual will work in the Health Information Management (HIM) Department, which is primarily responsible the accuracy, maintenance, safety, storage, retrieval, initiation and analysis of patient records and related statistical data. The primary purpose of this position is to design, structure and coordinate performance improvement audits related to documentation within the hospital. The Quality Auditor is responsible for professional screening of patient charts relating to compliance with standards. This position works collaboratively with clinical staff to maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards and CMS conditions of participation. Reports are used for re-credentialing of providers, measuring performance against regulatory requirements and identifying areas where a plan of correction is needed. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently in a fast pace environment, be able to multi-task under pressure and have strong organizational skills. This position requires a self-starter with good decision making and communication skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Performing the following audits monthly and compiling results for distribution: Emergency Restrictive Interventions, ORYX Measures, Critical Test Turnaround, Suicide Risk Factors, Safety Precautions & Provider Log.
Performs the following audits quarterly: Use of Unapproved Abbreviations & Nursing Audit of Read Back/Verified Verbal Orders.
Designs tracking form and audit reports and distribute audit results to the appropriate Clinical Staff.
Collects data needed to report to National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors Research Institute (NRI) which is required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Maintaining and updating patient legal statuses and appropriate paperwork in patient medical records/charts and communicating changes to assigned Psychiatrist.
The normal work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility is required for training purposes and to meet hospital needs. This position is essential to hospital operations and will be required to work during adverse weather events. About the Facility: Broughton Hospital operates 297 beds and is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness. Construction is currently underway for a new facility that will include 382 beds.
