FMP Internal Audit (IA) provides independent internal assurance services for FMP's operations. With two offices in Pittsburgh, PA and Schenectady, NY, IA fulfills its auditing responsibilities by combining a process orientation with compliance requirements.
IA performs audits in sixteen broad contractor areas of responsibility established by the DOE Office of Inspector General. These include financial management, procurement, human resources, construction and facilities, data processing and information systems, and others.
This Internal Auditor position is located in Schenectady, NY.
This Internal Auditor Position will conduct a wide variety of audit assignments to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, efficiency of operations, and perform audits of large scale project performance and controls.
Position responsibilities are: Conducting internal audits in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors, which includes the Codes of Ethics and the International Standards for the Professional Practices of Internal Auditing (the Standards). Consulting on projects at the request of management and in accordance with the Standards. Identifying opportunities to improve internal control, system efficiencies, or overall effectiveness.
Fulfilling these responsibilities requires working in an independent, cooperative, and timely manner to plan, assess risks, determine areas for emphasis, select appropriate technical methods, develop specialized audit aids, and complete assigned requirements. The successful candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with other BMPC personnel, including those who may be capable of supporting audit work as subject matter experts.
Advanced Level: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience or, Master s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Demonstrated effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrated strong analytical and project management skills.
Senior Level: Same as Advanced Requirements, except: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience or, Master s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
Job Preferred Skills Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE) preferred. Strong understanding of audit methodology, procedures, and techniques, GAAP, COSO. Project auditing experience preferred. Working knowledge of common office applications (i.e. Microsoft Office and Excel). Working knowledge of audit software, TeamMate preferred.
