Responsibilities / Qualifications:

The EMS Billing/QI Coordinator is responsible for daily review and approval of EMS Electronic Health Records to ensure compliance with QI and billing requirements. This position must possess strong working knowledge of EMS treatment protocols, documentation requirements and EMS billing requirements including the use of Physician Certification Statements and other forms necessary which effect reimbursement. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage a high volume of patient records with great accuracy. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.

  • Education: High school or GED required.
  • Experience: Two or three years of related EMS experience required.
  • Other: Must have ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, and perform all daily assignments with consistent accuracy. Ability to use logic in determining correct document processing and to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must be detail oriented. Required to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Preferred Licensure: Missouri Licensed Paramedic.
  • Preferred Certification/Registration: Certified Ambulance Coder certification.
  • Other: Knowledge of ICD-10 for coding for Ambulance.
