The Technical Accounting Consultant will be working with Kiwi's client engagements. This individual must take a systems approach to accounting, as they will be analyzing the full accounting structure of our clients' organizations. They must be able to take a high level look at accounting functions, recommend process changes, recommend accounting software to clients, and oversee implementation of software.Duties And Responsibilities TechnicalIn order to ensure that all work that Kiwi Partners' staff produce and deliver is 100% in accordance with the Kiwi Partners Quality Management Systems (QMS), the consultant will:Conduct interviews with the client staff to fully understand financial tasks and processes of the organization.Document accounting procedures and processes to provide a tool for analysis and inclusion in manuals.Present data in detailed reports, interpret results in an accurate and timely manner to the client's team.Suggest changes to processes based on analysis, technology, Best Practices, improvement of internal controls and implementation of efficiencies. Client Management Understand and manage client expectations as defined in the engagement contract and work plan.Advise clients on best practices in configuring their financial management software systems and assist with installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.Provide deliverables to the client Senior Management on a timely basis and in compliance with Kiwi's Quality Management System.Oversee team of Associates to manage client workload, engage, mentor and inspire them to take ownership of clients and their consultant role.Act as a liaison between all Kiwi and client parties and communicate proactively to establish strong trust and pre-empt of potential conflicts/problems.Knowledge And SkillsMust be comfortable working in multiple non-profit accounting environments and balancing several client needs and demandsBusiness knowledge sound decision-making, negotiation, and strategic thinking skillsAdvanced Excel abilityKnowledge of principles and practices of accounting systemsVery strong writing skills. Ability to capture in writing a process succinctlyHighly personable and possess strong client communication and management skillsExpert knowledge of various accounting software including creating chart of accounts and converting data from different applicationsExperience in documenting procedures and conducting interviewsKnowledgeable in internal controls and implementing changes to improve controlsStrong motivation and ability to learn new applicationsMust be comfortable with daily on-the-job travel. Individual will be traveling from client to client in the New York City area.Education And Work ExperienceBachelor's degree preferred, not required. 7-10 years of progressive accounting and consulting experience, some in a non-profit environmentKnowledge of accounting software (Quickbooks, Intacct a plus)Kiwi Partners will consider employees working remote.A stipend will be considered for individuals who are willing to relocate to NYC.Kiwi Partners is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
