The Port of Portland is seeking a visionary and collaborative finance leader to serve as the Chief Financial Officer. The Port employs 700 individuals and has annual revenues exceeding $300 million. The Ports operations and those of its tenants generate over $6.4 billion a year for the Portland area. Reporting to the Ports Executive Director, the CFO serves as the Ports chief financial strategist and leads the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Division, with five (5) direct reports, a total team of thirty-six (36) employees, and a division budget of $5.5 million.

Requirements

Candidate must possess a track record of being a proven self-driven leader who is well-versed in all aspects of financial management including accounting & financial control, budgeting & financial planning, debt issuance & debt management, auditing and risk management. The ideal candidate is people centric, innovative and energetic with an ability to offer strategies to solve issues and manage outcomes, leads through collaboration and consensus, inspires others, takes action and is decisive is preferred for this position. Additionally, technical creditability and proven financial management accomplishments are critical. This person must possess high moral and ethical standards and be able to represent the Port with customers, regulators, investment bankers and other stakeholders. The selected executive will possess superior performance in fiscal management within a complex public agency or closely related industry.

Experience should include at least ten (10) years of financial management experience plus four (4) years of senior finance leadership at the CFO, finance director or other comparable executive level. A Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or closely related field is required. A certified public accountant and/or an advanced degree is preferred.
