Under the direction of the Directorcode, evaluate physician documentation and provide feedback of findings tophysicians and ancillary staff. This information will assist the Director inenhancing physician education in order to target areas of process improvementas it pertains to coding, reimbursement, billing, and charge capture. Ensurethat the department is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws andregulations with respect to coding and billing.
1. Code (ICD-9,CPT-4, Modifiers) multi-specialty physician documentation prior to claimsubmission. Areas of focus Medicine Inpatient and Inpatient andOutpatient Surgical Procedures. These could vary.
2.Perform both prospective and retrospective audits as assigned. Analyze medicalrecord documentation for appropriateness of services and service levels billed.Identify areas of lost revenue and recommend better documentation/codingpractices.
3. Ensure timelysubmission of all Multi-specialty charges to McKesson. Contact Departments andinform Director of delinquent areas or providers affecting charge capturetargets.
4. Maintainfiles/statistics of findings per department and physician for review withDirector on a monthly basis.
5. Analyzecoding denials and identify trends and resolutions.Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED . Bachelor sDegree Preferred
CPC Certification from the AAPC orAHIMA in good standing.
Four years minimum coding experiencein a Multi-Specialty Faculty Practice, or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of physician billing andclaims processing highly preferred.
Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills required.
Proficient in Excel, Micro Soft Wordand Power Point.Strength Through Diversity
