We are seeking a talented, achievement focused, motivated Senior Controller, based in our New York office, who will play a critical role in the success of our growing Technology Solutions organization. Reporting to the CEO, this role will be responsible for leading accounting operations, financial reporting, control processes and financial systems to ensure the highest level of integrity and accuracy. You will work collaboratively with the business to drive financial growth and profitability and should enjoy working in a fast-paced, international entrepreneurial environment. Finance & Accounting is a critical component to our business, providing financial and operational insight and support for business management and board reporting, and scalable process for the growth of GSD is top of mind. Responsibilities Provide leadership in the accounting and finance functions including financial planning, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, operational reporting, revenue management, general fiduciary responsibilities for accounting operations, and internal control structures in an entrepreneurial environment. Oversee Payroll, Employee Benefit processing, and General Ledger functions, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and conformance with professional accounting standards and best practices. Manage all cash management and treasury issues along with maintaining other relationships related to financial practices including banks, insurance, vendors and clients. Build strong business partnerships with leaders across the organization to drive accountability and clear communication for financial plan results. Establish and improve Accounting and Finance processes and protocols for scalable growth and recurring reporting output. Manage billing and collections, utilizing third party software tools including Accounting Seed and Stripe. Develop cost reduction and profit improvement opportunities and implement in partnership with company management. Prepare financial reports and ensure the accurate and timely dissemination including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements and annual budgets, Billing Projection and Tracking Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. Preparation of management reports and dashboards, producing meaningful commentary and analysis of financial data. Drive the profitability of the organization by analyzing key levers, and leading cost saving initiatives as well as identifying financial risks and opportunities in the business. Ensure key policies and procedures are documented and followed to satisfy internal controls and audit requirements. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing timely and accurate financial reports; advising management on needed actions. Desired Skills and Experiences Bachelors degree in Business with a focus in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred. 8+ years experience in corporate accounting positions with a history of increasing leadership responsibility. 5+ years experience in a Controller role with previous experience with a growing small to mid sized consulting start-up, technology, Professional Services, or SaaS based firm. Prior knowledge and experience with GAAP. Prior experience with a large public accounting firm is highly preferred. Proven experience in financial project management with the ability to deliver quality work within agreed-upon deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills. Ability to maintain and/or implement effective internal controls. Experience with analysis and interpretation of technical accounting guidance, compliance regulations and legal documents. Proven experience providing excellent client service in a decentralized work environment. High level of interpersonal and consultative skills; written and verbal. Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand. Able to navigate technology in a NetSuite or Salesforce environment. Preferred system experience with Salesforce, Accounting Seed, and Stripe preferred. Prior work with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) acceptable. Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel. Experience with the GSuite of products desired. Must be New York based with limited travel.
