Join First Transit as a Payroll Clerk. The Payroll Clerk assists the Finance Manager in all aspects of the daily payroll function. This position is responsible for the completion of new employee profiles, payroll, benefits enrollments, and other clerical accounting functions.   • Payroll Clerk major responsibilities:

  • Maintains an accurate driver seniority list.
  • Calculate driver/staff payroll and input payroll information into the computer for processing. Accurately track attendance for permanent part-time employees. Maintain accurate driver seniority list.
  • Answer the phone and respond to customer inquiries. Distribute mail, prepare overnight packages, and maintain stamps and other mailing supplies. Order location's office supplies and maintain inventory.
  • Assist Finance Manager in accurately tracking OT for purposes of reducing/eliminating unnecessary and/or additional punch hours.
  • Compiles payroll data, reconciles errors, and maintains accurate payroll records. Process accurate and timely reports as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personnel or other sensitive information. Conduct research utilizing internet, manuals, policies, procedures and various other sources, and compose, proof and assemble pertinent information for documents.
  • Manage employee increases and bonuses when appropriate.
  • Maintains accounting and responsibility for processing of company documents.
  • Administers payroll, and personnel records.
  • Assist employees with problem solving and research of payroll issues.

  • Prepare proper documentation for wage and tax withholdings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Payroll Clerk requirements:

  • Payroll Experience preferred
  • Accounting of office experience a plus
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and a self-starter
  • Excellent time management skills
  • (2+) years' experience in data entry, administrative and/or analyst duties
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
  • Computer literacy, 10 Key, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
