Course Description: ACC-370: Intermediate Accounting I

This course is an in-depth study of accounting objectives, principles, theory, and practice as related to the balance sheet and income statement. Students explore the accounting cycle, the preparation of detailed financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting for assets, and other items frequently addressed on the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination (Uniform CPA Exam).

Course Description: ACC-260: Management Accounting

This course is an introduction to the use of managerial accounting data in the decision-making process. Topics include the use of cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis and relevant costs in decision making, using budgets and the balanced scorecard to evaluate performance, methods for setting prices of products and services, and analyzing capital investment opportunities.

** These courses will be taught in-person, during the day, and on-campus at the GCU Main Campus - Phoenix, AZ

** These courses are for traditional campus, Fall semester: 08/24/2020 - 12/13/2020

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Qualifications:

  • Preferred: PhD/DBA Accounting or Doctorate in a accounting related discipline AND Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in Accounting required if Doctorate is not in a business discipline.
  • Minimum: Masters in Accounting or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) AND 3 years public accounting experience or 5 years corporate accounting experience.
