The OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to work in our Associate Service Center located in Amherst, NY, serving as a primary processor for payroll. Responsibilities include the following:
Responsible for timely and accurate end to end processing of multi-state payroll across all subsidiary businesses.
Works with appropriate resources to resolve any inquiries and transactions in a timely, accurate fashion.
Balances earnings and deduction totals, calculates and prepares payroll entries, inspecting automated system output such as registers and standard reports, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions
Process third party vendor files, as needed, and reviews and works to immediately resolve errors or warnings.
Interact with third party vendor, federal, state and local taxing agencies as the business need requires.
Provide second level customer support for customer service transactions as well as general payroll inquiries.
Provide expertise, support and development of compliance policies and practices for payroll and payroll tax processes and other payroll related reporting requirements.
Supervise and participate in the coordination, administration and oversight of activities related to the proper execution of Payroll Unclaimed Property processes.
Review and answer wage withholding orders and ensure proper garnishment procedures are followed by 3rd party vendor.
Participates in projects as assigned
Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred.
Two to three years experience in end to end processing of payroll in a multi-state environment.
Prior ADP / PeopleSoft / Kronos experience preferred.
Knowledge of payroll compliance, practices and procedures.
Strong time management, prioritization, multitasking and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and demonstrate high level of integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Strong PC skill with proficiency using Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
