Primary Job Duties* Supervises all accounting staff within the Business Office, as well as overseeing the operations including; cash receipts, cash disbursements, general accounting transactions, project accounting and maintenance of the various ERP modules.* Directs and monitors the month-end close of the Business Office and Purchasing Office. This duty will ensure all financial information is complete and accurate and cutoff is applied each month to be used by the AVP for Finance in monthly financial statement preparation.* Assists with the preparation of the annual financial statements and audit workpapers for both the Financial Statement audit and the Federal Single Audit.* Reviews/approves all journal entries and batches to be loaded into the financial accounting system.* Reviews/approves all reporting for general ledgers, cash receipts, and expenditures.* Reviews/approves all cash/investment reconciliations.* Monitors cash flow.* Prepares monthly payroll expenditure batch.* Coordinates month end closings* Prepares information for annual federal 990 tax return.* Prepares annual IPEDS financial report.* Reviews/approves all quarterly government grant reporting* Reviews/approves preparation of quarterly sales tax return.Other Job Duties* Reviews/approves all grant activity and reporting.* Reviews/approves government grant drawdowns/requests.* Coordinates compliance with private gift restrictions and government grant regulations.* Other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities* Strong Accounting knowledge, non-profit experience a plus.* Strong analytical skills* Strong organizational skills* Ability to communicate effectively with Business office team members* Ability to work well independently and with others* Ability to effectively manage multiple, competing, and high priority projects with varying deadlines* Ability to exercise independent judgment* Absolute confidentiality skills* Proficiency in Windows- Word, Excel, and Power Point* Ability to prioritize workload* Ability to function well in fast paced environmentJob SpecificationsEducation: Bachelors degree in Business or AccountingExperience:* Minimum 5-7 years experience with accounting/general ledger work.* 4-6 years in a business environment* Higher Education experience a plus* Management experience preferred.Physical & Environmental Requirements* Mental/Visual Demand and Physical Effort* Must be able to lift and manuever normal size full file box for archival purposes.* Must be able to occasional bend, twist, and stoop.* Frequent typing of computer keyboard.
