Job Description SummaryResponsible for all phases of accounting, including financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and general ledger maintenance, as well as use sound technical skills and solid judgment to provide leadership within the accounting team.ACCOUNTABILITIESMay be responsible for one or more of the following:Perform regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competencyGenerate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data that reflects actual financialperformance against approved budgetsEstablish appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research oftransactions, and reportingAnalyze complex accounting transactionsAudit items in order to calculate costsMaintain general ledger and close books monthlyPrepare and assist with cash management, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets,accruals, and reconciliationsPrepare comprehensive financial reporting packages for projects, clients, or business units,monthly and as neededEnsure books and financials are in accordance with GAAP or other required accountingstandardsReview fixed asset ledgers to ensure items are properly capitalized and depreciatedProvide assistance with audit ledgers and assist in providing information for outside auditsResearch and analyze complex accounting issuesApply the financial policies and procedures of the company and bring inconsistencies,problems, and recommendations to the attention of managementDirect Property Managers or Business Unit leaders through the preparation of their annualbudgetsReview and approve projects and ledgers prepared by AccountantsContribute to operational and process improvementsPerform special projects as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor Degree4+ years of accounting experienceOr any similar combination of education and experienceCPA preferredStrong knowledge of accounting or database software packagesStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft ExcelAbility to use a 10 Key computer boardAbility to train, mentor, and coach othersStrong problem solving abilityEffective and efficient time management and delegation skillsDetail oriented and thorough; ability to review accounting documents for complete accuracyProven record of providing excellent internal and external customer serviceExcellent oral and written communication skillsWORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions.
