Social Justice Services serves men and women transitioning out of prison and back into the community through a network of six residential reentry centers operated under contracts with federal, state, and county agencies. The division also runs a residential program for young adults with complex clinical needs.
Community Strategies supports adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities to live as independently as possible through a range of community-based residential options offering structure in a caring, home-like environment, as well as day programs.
The Crime and Justice Institute is a national-scale consulting practice that works with elected officials, justice system practitioners, policy makers, and thought leaders to effect significant reforms to promote safety and justice.
We are seeking an Staff Accountant II (SAII) to assist our rapidly growing organization increase its ability to review processes and improve and document internal controls. The Staff Accountant II (SAII) will work out of the corporate Fiscal department at CRJ's Administrative Offices conveniently located in Boston's growing South End just a short walk from the Red, Orange, Silver and Commuter lines with easy access on and off I93. This SAII will join a group of dedicated Accounting professionals that are responsible for CRJ's $50B in revenue.
The Staff Accountant II will be responsible for posting cash receipts, bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations, ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and assist in completing the month end closings. The SAII is also responsible for quarterly reporting processes, collecting and analyzing financial data, ensuring that all reporting complies with regulations and guidelines of the auditors
This role will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will be required to collaborate with team members within the Fiscal team and cross-functionally around organization.
Primary Functional Responsibilities:
Balance sheet account reconciliations
Revenue and expense account reconciliations
Credit card distribution, expense review and journal entry upload.
Other schedules and reconciliations assigned
Create and upload journal entries
Assist with external reporting and audit requests.
Train other staff, as needed
CRJ is looking for individuals with advanced problem solving skills, proven team building skills, energy, and strong communication skills.
2-3 years experience in audit, compliance and accounting
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Advanced Excel Required
Nonprofit or Government Contracts exposure preferred
Exposure to Federal Form 990, Massachusetts Form PC, Massachusetts Form 3ABC and Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report a plus
Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Navigator
Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
