The Department of Pediatrics Director of Revenue Cycle directs and oversees the initiatives, objectives, and performance of the clinical revenue cycle activities. Activities include the optimization of clinical revenue through effective front end activities (insurance authorizations) and coding strategies through A/R and denial management. The Revenue Cycle Director creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the revenue cycle team and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Director collaborates with departmental administrative and clinical leadership as well as Columbia Doctors Central Revenue Cycle Office Leadership. Identification of functional or technical issues or trends that are affecting clinical revenue is key. Implementing and carrying-out solutions for those identified issues is vital to the success of this role. Responsibilities The Director of Revenue cycle will be responsible to oversee the performance of the billing operations for the Department of Pediatrics with clinical revenues of ~$75M annually. Responsible for tracking and trending key performance indicators of revenue cycle and regular reporting to executive, administrative and clinical leadership in the department. The Director will lead and manage a team consisting of a Billing Manager, Coding Manager, Revenue Cycle Specialist, Credentialing Manager and their associated employees. The Director will serve as an internal resource and consultant on all aspects of the revenue cycle including, front end activities, contracting, and the IDX billing system while working closely with the Department s executive and central administration, Columbia Doctors Central Revenue office Leadership and divisional leadership. Serve as the Department s vendor relations manager, serving as the primary interface with outsourced revenue cycle vendors (off and on shore). Responsible for recommending ongoing improvements to further enhance revenue cycle performance in the Department. Responsible for implementing approved solutions in collaboration with the divisional and practice site leadership. He/She will be responsible to evaluate existing processes and develop/implement policies where applicable. The Director will be responsible to assist and provide input on the revenue budget development for each division, ensuring that new projections are consistent with current practice trends. He/She will represent the Department on various medical center committees. He/She will be part of the Department s senior management team and will be responsible to keep the team updated on FPO/University initiatives related to revenue cycle issues. Any other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required or equivalent in education and experience, plus 5 years of related experience. Master's degree preferred.
