Bookkeeper with Property Management Experience

We are looking for a focused individual to be responsible for the income and expenses of a large portfolio of commercial and residential properties. The goal is to maximize asset value, customer satisfaction and revenue.

The individual is responsible for collecting and recording all our property management income including rents, late fees, water sewer bills, etc. and recording our payables such as real estate taxes, mortgage payments, vendor payments, and posting information to specially designed property management software (Appfolio). Compensation:

$35,000 - $45,000

Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping: Enter data, maintain records and produce financial reports through the property management software
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the appropriate manner
  • Verify that security deposits are collected, disbursed, and recorded in the appropriate manner and compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Appfolio (or similar system), and basic accounting systems
  • Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and flexible
  • 2+ years of work experience as a bookkeeper, cost accountant, property manager, management accountant, or similar position
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and property management software is helpful (PropertyBoss or Appfolio preferred but will train)
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and handle the pressures of fast-paced industry
  • Must be able to communicate well with residents and employees and have good telephone skills
