Job Summary

The Senior Auditor is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising audits of locations or processes mostly of medium to low complexity, risk and scope, including wrap-up and report issuance to ensure a high-quality audit and audit report is completed as efficiently as possible. He or she will also assist on audits of higher risk, complexity and scope as requested, handling complex or difficult areas within the audit and helping the supervisor in-charge to ensure the audit is completed timely and accurately.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, develops, and executes audit plan, programs, reports, and presentations for each engagement.
  • Performs risk assessment by gaining an understanding of and documenting the respective business processes, identifying risks and controls inherent in those processes, evaluating them and identifying control deficiencies/opportunities for improvement; evaluate control effectiveness through design and transaction testing; and perform substantive audit procedures; and identifies misstatements/errors in account balances/processes.
  • Reviews staff workpapers to ensure compliance with department quality standards, and provides timely feedback.
  • Obtains and analyzes financial/operational data to assess the adequacy/effectiveness/efficiency of business systems/processes.
  • Analyzes financial/operational data to identify trends, root causes of business issues, and/or opportunities.
  • Makes oral and written recommendations to management and presents agreed-upon actions to improve controls and operational efficiency.
  • Challenges audit findings and refines recommendations for presentation to management.
  • Prepares accurate, timely, and well-written audit report requiring moderate to low revisions.
  • Shares best practices identified at other locations & throughout work experience.
  • Provides suggestions for revising audit programs and approaches based upon experiences and recommendations for improvement/enhance efficiency.
  • Assists in the development of department building blocks: audit programs, audit plans, fieldwork structure, audit reports, etc.
  • Participates in the development of the annual audit plan using a risk assessment methodology.
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with client organization (both financial and operational areas) and through all appropriate management levels.
  • Develops personal training/development plan to remain current on industry trends, technical pronouncements, etc.
  • Supervises staff as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • Degree Level: B.S. in Accounting or any undergraduate major with an MBA degree in Accounting or Finance; GPA: Minimum 3.2/4.0 scale.
  • Prior Work Experience: Senior Auditor candidates should possess 5-6+ years of work experience, which should include 2-4 years of audit experience; Public Accounting ( Big 4 audit experience is preferred; large, regional firm, or Internal Audit/Industry experience will also be considered;Other relevant (non-audit) experience will also be considered.
  • Certifications: CPA/CIA or other professional certifications (CFE, CISA, etc.) are a plus.
  • Proficiency with SAP and/or ACL is a plus; experience with data analytics is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other foreign languages, especially German, French, Spanish or Mandarin, is a plus.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT: (Under Typical Positions)

    Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

    Travel approximately 20-25% of the time to domestic and international locations (generally travel one week at a time, although some travel will be more or less than one week) may be required.

    Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

    A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.

    Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
