Global Merchant Services (GMS) is the merchant acquirer, processor and marketing partner for millions of merchants around the world that accept the American Express Card. GMS Finance provides financial management, planning & results analysis, industry analytics, and strategic decision support to help drive acceptance and growth in merchant spend.

This position partners with the US Small Merchant organization (representing the majority of US merchants) directly supporting the GM and his leadership team. It is focused on providing monthly results analyses, deep dive analytics, and supporting investment opportunities to drive activation for new merchants and growth in the B2B industry.

We rely on strong cross-functional collaboration with the product, marketing, analytics, pricing, and finance teams for the Global Merchant Services business. This is a high visibility role with a focus on some of the most important initiatives in one of the largest and fastest growing segments of American Express.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners in Product, Marketing, Analytics, Pricing, Finance and other functions
  • Manage monthly reporting and conduct ad hoc results analyses
  • Create financial analyses for initiatives such as merchant engagement, organic growth initiatives, and profitability analyses of new investments
  • Quickly and accurately analyze US Economic and AXP volume trends using internal and external data sources
  • Work cross-functionally to drive recommendations and process improvements
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas with brevity, simplicity and impact
  • Flexibility to effectively function in a fast-paced environment, high energy team player
  • Excellent communication skills with an innate ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Confidence to ask questions, develop a point of view, and voice an opinion in meetings with senior executives
  • Motivated self-starter able to operate on multiple, diverse fronts simultaneously, with attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with IDN, Hive, SQL and/or SAS preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in financial analysis
