Senior Revenue Accountant
The Sr Revenue Accountant will support revenue and revenue related expense recognition in the SAP ERP system. Responsibilities will include preparing Journal Entry adjustments, oversight of related B/S reconciliations and analysis, as well as ongoing sales order entry. Review and understand complex Accounting Review Templates for the existing revenue accounting standard as well the new accounting standard for revenue recognition, ASC 606.
Contract Revenue and Revenue Related Expense Accounting (30%) Responsible for systematic and manual processes necessary to record and reconcile revenue and revenue related expense around multiple revenue streams including but not limited to Term Software, SaaS, and Services. Responsibilities will also include monthly B/S reconciliations and analysis. Review and understand complex Accounting Review Templates Prepare Journal Entries and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is created Liaise with Finance, the business unit, and technical accounting on revenue and related expense recognition issues and contract reviews.
Revenue Reporting and Monthly Accounting Close (30%) Ensure accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data in SAP and Oracle related to deferred revenue and open contract elements requiring deferral. Perform gross margin reviews, trend analysis and revenue variance reporting in conjunction with the monthly close process. Provide analysis and reporting of accrued and prepaid accounts, as well as assistance with project work and/or ad hoc reporting as necessary. Monthly close procedures include, but are not limited to, monthly B/S reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, contracts, trending, and related reporting.
Support Revenue Convergence to ASC 606 (20%) Work with Revenue Convergence team to calculate and maintain support around ASC 606 adjustments and models Coordinate manual journal entry adjustments during close process for dual reporting ASC 605 and 606 results
Audit Support (20%) Support management relating to audit requests from external and internal auditors. Support ongoing SOX initiative by working with Internal Audit to be SOX compliant Maintain necessary IPE (Information Produced by Entity) that is used in performing SOX controls Support Revenue Control Owner responsible for ensuring data used is complete and accurate when performing a control
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Business Experience 5+ years accounting experience; Public Accounting experience preferred At least 1 year of experience in an accounting close or revenue recognition role
Education BS in Accounting or comparable business degree is required or equivalent work experience CPA preferred
Critical Skills Revenue Recognition – thorough knowledge of and experience working in a revenue related function, and experience with revenue recognition in a software/technology environment (ASC 985-605 Revenue Recognition – Software, ASC 605-25 Multiple element arrangements, and ASC 605-35 Construction-type and production-type contracts as well as the new Revenue Standard ASC 606) Strong reporting and data analysis skills Experience with SAP, TM-1, Hyperion, Oracle and/or similar platforms. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and/or Access experience preferred Deep knowledge of ERP structure and related processes
