The Flight Budget Analyst is the financial focal point for the Flight, InFlight, Pilot Training, and other Flight Operations Departments. The Flight Budget Analyst is responsible for all pilot travel and expense approval and reconciliation including uniforms, per diem, and parking. This position also initiates the pilot training wage transfer from operations. Finally, the Flight Budget Analyst is also responsible for assisting with preparing, monitoring, and reporting for Flight Operations Departments.
Essential Job Functions
Applies accounting principles and techniques to systematically record and present data.
Creates, prepares and maintains detailed reports to analyze and track trends in the Flight Operations departments budgets.
Analyzes and explains various monthly administrative, operational, publications and pilot training variances.
Identifies areas for budgetary savings, process efficiency, and productivity improvement.
Prepares the monthly pilot training wage debit expenses for the monthly pilot and offline pilot instructor training wage accounts.
Manages the pilot uniform and headset banks (accruals and usage).
Reviews and approves all pilot uniform, headset, and alternate parking expenses.
Reviews and approves all Flight department pilot and instructor training per diem.
Conducts initial review of all Flight department administrative, operational and training expenses making corrections as needed.
Creates and maintains analysis tools including the compilation of data from multiple sources to arrive at the required information needed for fact based decision making.
Assist the Flight Operations managers in all areas of their budget accounts.
Liaison between Accounting, Payroll and Flight department.
Flight department focal for the expense (Concur) and invoice (On Base) systems.
Assists the Manager of Flight Administration and Support in maintaining budgetary focus on specified accounts (Jeppessen, Simulator Usage, Training Wages).
Supports overall department budget by providing reports and statistics from various databases/programs.
Facilitates monthly budget meetings and review.
Audits Flight management vacation and attendance records.
Validate and process all company paid pilot moves.
Prepares and maintains monthly variance summary spreadsheet.
Evaluates impact of decisions and changes to Company business activities and applies applicable and/or contractual rules.
Educates new hire pilots on various administrative processes during on-boarding presentations on reimbursements, uniforms, parking, etc.
Coordinates and facilitates Line Check Airmen and Trainee (new pilot) travel support.
Provides customer service support for pilots, leadership, peers, and other company departments regarding Flight expenses and invoices.
Adapts to changes in guidelines and applies exceptions when authorized.
Assists with special projects and documentation.
Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.
Adherence to all Company policies and procedure.
Education/Experience
Associates degree in accounting or business administration required; Bachelor s degree
Preferred.
1+ year s budget or financial analysis related experience, preferred.
1+ year s experience in using Excel, MS Access, Crystal Reporting, and SSRS required
Familiarity with pilot collective bargaining agreements preferred.
Experience in the preparation of employee and leadership presentations.
Demonstrated problem identification skills with follow through to resolution
