Job Summary: A successful manufacturing and glass installation company has an excellent opportunity for a Junior Accountant who is goal-oriented and self-motivated. The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting day to day general accounting functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable and assist with job cost allocations. The position will support the Controller and accounting team in all areas of the accounting department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and close Company accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings.
  • Analyze variances in account balances vendor accounts.
  • Proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to Controller.
  • Record cash receipts from customers into various entities.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely month-end close tasks.
  • Prepares, reviews, and interprets data for inclusion in financial reports, statements, and summaries.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with tax filings & other government compliance.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Controller.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is quiet in the office.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Associate s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum two (2) years recent/current experience in accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and PIVOT TABLE.
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping; journal entries, debits/credits, chart of accounts and general ledger.
  • Experience in a construction industry with job cost accounting preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and reporting regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and switch focus quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of senior managers and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt salary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00. All applicants must be willing and able to work on call and perform weekend work when required by management.
