This Rebate Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring accurate presentation of the financial records, by providing accounting support to both finance and business partners. The Rebate Supervisor has the opportunity to lead the month end close process ensuring that vendor and consumer rebates and gift card transactions are accurately presented and manage the workload of two direct reports. Additionally, this individual will be a lead in Finance on cross-functional projects including support for finance staff assigned to the project, development and review of processes, documentation, policies, risk assessment and review and enhancement of internal controls governing the accounting processes
What you ll do
Supervising 2 direct reports, lead the monthly close responsibilities including the review of journal entries, variance analysis, account reconciliations and management inquiries.
Review or prepare executive level complex ad-hoc reports and analysis as assigned by management.
Within the rebate and gift card areas, work with team and business partners to determine the risks associated with the current environment. Ensure new marketing, merchandising and promotional initiatives are fully supported from both an operational and financial reporting perspective.
Support the external auditors by ensuring all requested Prepared by Client (PBC s) are provided timely and coordinate all discussions requested by the external auditors.
Setting performance expectations and workload for direct reports on a regular basis, and provide regular informal and formal feedback and coaching so that expectations and deadlines continue to be met.
Make presentations on accounting topics, as needed, to varying groups throughout the organization.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor s degree in Accounting
Experience with SAP preferred
CPA required (or progress to completion already completed)
7+ years of work experience in a financial/accounting capacity
Demonstrated leadership skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving and data mining skills
Ability to define strategy and create goals and objectives for processes
Proven ability to re-design and re-engineer processes
Thorough understanding of accounting principles
Excellent project/time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to successfully interact with management throughout the organization
Advanced abilities in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
