Accountemps is looking for a Staff Accountant for a long term temporary-to-full-time position. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and work alongside our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. Major responsibilities - Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules - Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll - Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision - Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting - Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner - Participate in various department-wide initiatives - Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested - Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation - Knowledge of accounts payable - Foundational knowledge in check processing - Expense reports experience desired - Proficiency in bank reconciliations - Current and relevant ERP system experience - Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines - High attention to detail - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics - Spreadsheet and database capabilities - Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment - Self-starter and strong ethical standards - Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases - Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills - 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
